About this molecule
Atazanavir (brand name: Reyataz) is a prescription medicine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of HIV in adults and children. In certain people, atazanavir may need to be used with a pharmacokinetic enhancer (boosting agent), as determined by a health care provider. Currently, ritonavir is the only pharmacokinetic enhancer available for use with stand-alone atazanavir. A fixed-dose combination tablet containing atazanavir and cobicistat (brand name: Evotaz) is also available. Atazanavir is always used in combination with other HIV medicines.
