What it is and how it works
Contains full-strength diphtheria toxoid and tetanus toxoid adsorbed on an aluminium adjuvant. It stimulates production of antitoxin antibodies that neutralise diphtheria and tetanus toxins.
Indications
Immunisation of children (generally under 7 years) against diphtheria and tetanus, particularly when the pertussis component is contraindicated.
Dosage and administration (summary)
0.5 mL by intramuscular injection according to the national immunisation schedule.
Contraindications
Anaphylaxis after a previous dose or to any component; neurological complications after a previous dose of diphtheria or tetanus toxoid.
Warnings and precautions
Postpone in acute severe febrile illness. Local reactions and fever may occur; anaphylaxis treatment must be available. Because of the high diphtheria toxoid content, it is not suitable for older children and adults, who should receive Td.
Storage and supply
Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C; do not freeze.
