What it is and how it works
Ibuprofen is a non-selective COX inhibitor that reduces prostaglandin synthesis, giving analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects; paracetamol acts centrally as an analgesic-antipyretic; caffeine is an analgesic adjuvant.
Indications
Short-term relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache, migraine, dental pain, dysmenorrhoea and musculoskeletal pain, and of fever.
Contraindications
Active or history of peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding; severe heart, liver or renal failure; hypersensitivity (including asthma or urticaria) to aspirin or other NSAIDs; third trimester of pregnancy.
Warnings and precautions
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration because of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and renal risks. Avoid other paracetamol- or NSAID-containing products. Caution in the elderly, asthma, hypertension and with anticoagulants or corticosteroids.
Pregnancy
Avoid, particularly in the third trimester, because of NSAID-related fetal risks.
Storage and supply
Store below 25 °C in a dry place.
