What it is and how it works
A small-molecule ligand of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) conjugated to the HYNIC chelator and labelled with technetium-99m. PSMA is highly expressed on most prostate cancer cells, so the tracer accumulates in primary, nodal and metastatic disease and can be imaged by SPECT or with gamma probes during surgery.
Indications
SPECT imaging for staging and restaging of prostate cancer, including biochemical recurrence, and radio-guided surgery, particularly where PSMA PET is not available.

Activity is individualised by the nuclear medicine specialist according to the manufacturer’s instructions and local protocols.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the ligand or kit components.
Warnings and precautions
Physiological uptake occurs in salivary and lacrimal glands, kidneys, liver, spleen and bowel, and some non-prostatic lesions may also take up PSMA ligands; interpret with clinical data. Sensitivity for small lesions is lower than with PSMA PET. Patients should be hydrated and void frequently; radiation exposure must be justified.
Storage and supply
Store the kit as specified by the manufacturer; use the labelled product within the stated time, in lead shielding.
